Homeschool group and dress up storage

We found a great homeschool group that is just military families and doesn't have a fee or a waiver declaring specific faith requirements. We just wanted one that would be a place to meet other kids and celebrate the holidays with other people through the school year and the Keesler Homeschool Group does just that. We go every Monday and whenever there is a field trip planned. We went to the air traffic control school last week and when the weather was bad later in the week Bailee was in the back seat of the car talking about how the air traffic control will tell be telling the planes about the storm and how to get through it. The girls also loved having friends to play with at the Lynn Meadows children's museum last week for another field trip. We have a membership for the year to go there and it has been a favorite place the past couple of months. Well today at homeschool group it was the celebration of the August birthdays so parents of kids with birthdays in August brought treats to share.
They also got to have a little science lesson from Mr Reed where he showed them what happens to an egg when you soak it in vinegar and it takes the shell off. Then soak it in distilled water and the egg expands or syrup which will cause it to shrink a bit and change color. Typically his science classes are only for 6 yrs and up so it was fun for the younger ones to be included today.
Dave is off today and did a little shopping to build a dress up clothes rack! I saw the idea on Pinterest and loved it for a fun and accessible way to store play clothes.
We will hang the dresses from a dowel above and store all of the other dress up accessories in the box part where you won't have to see them. I am excited to paint it tonight! He has wanted to get into woodworking so shopping for the tools was his Father's Day present this year. I am sure I will keep him busy with his new hobby 😊

Learning vowels and consonants

She was really struggling to focus inside so we came outside and all of a sudden she knew every long and short vowel sound.

Restaurant for the bugs

Bailee got dressed for school today in her pajamas. She wanted to be comfortable and assured me that she would be able to do school in them. The girls went out front to pick some of the bushes and play with plants. Bailee said she is making a restaurant for the bugs, painting with water and leaves as brushes and calling the needle plant dusters.

Strike a pose Elise

Trying to teach independence. I asked Elise to go get dressed, which at this stage is getting an outfit and bringing it to me. It is successful when she brings only one top and one bottom which actually happened today. However, they are both clearly too small! I was grateful she got some clothes and she insists they fit so I asked her to strike a pose for me. This is what I got 😄 she has such a fun personality and we love her goofiness at age 2 1/2.

Science Exploreum Center

Mobile, AL August 19, 2016
Dave was off so we took a day trip to Mobile! The Science Exploreum is free to military until Labor Day so we wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to try a new place. The girls (and parents) enjoyed learning from the various exhibits like the human body section that I didn't take any pictures at. My favorite part was a huge heart that pumped and did a heart attack simulation.

Sister cuddles

Yesterday, August 20th, Dave was gone from 6 am to 9 pm in Denham Springs, LA helping the families who recently lost everything due to a terrible flood. He also is there today. Bailee hasn't seen him since Friday night and Elise has only seen him early this morning and she didn't want to let go of him. Yesterday I was doing laundry and when the water heater would make noises, both girls thought it was the garage door and Dave coming home. I am grateful for the love they have for their daddy and so blessed to have a loving husband. Well last night, because he wasn't home, Elise was having a hard time going to bed. She wanted to sleep on my bed but I suggested she ask Bailee if she could cuddle with her. Bailee wasn't sure about the idea because she knows Elise can be wiggly in the night and didn't want to be kicked 😊 I told Bailee that I would move Elise after she fell asleep and Bailee was ok with that idea. After I left the room I heard giggling and Bailee was teaching Elise words from an abc book and reading to her. It didn't take long before they were cuddled up and asleep. The blanket on Bailee was mine when I was a baby and she uses it on top of her comforter so that she doesn't have to make her bed in the morning 😄

Bailee the patriot

Last night, August 17,2016
5 pm every night- If Bailee hears the star spangled banner she will stop whatever she is doing and show respect. She is currently seeking extra chores to save spending money for disneyworld in October so I sent her out to take the recycling to the curb. Just a little bit earlier we had returned home from the pool and she noticed that somebody else had their recycling out on the curb and insisted that she put ours out right away. I had her shower and change (she chose pjs) and then she went to take care of the job. The picture is hazy because as soon as I take my phone from the cool temperature in the house to the humid outside air, the lens fogs right up. My glasses do the same thing.
